The figures, published yesterday (May 9) by NHS England, showed there were two new deaths of patients at hospitals in the Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, which covers the north of West Sussex and Surrey. They had tested positive for Covid-19 at time of death and were recorded on Friday (May 8).

Hide AdThe other trusts in West Sussex recorded no coronavirus-related deaths on Friday.
These are the death figures so far for the NHS trusts that cover hospitals in West Sussex.
Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (St Richard's Hospital, Chichester, Worthing Hospital): 85
Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust: 15
Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust: 208

Hide AdThe amount of confirmed coronavirus cases in West Sussex as of yesterday was 1,227, according to Government statistics.
These figures do not include deaths in care homes, which are published separately.
Nationally, there have been 31,587 coronavirus deaths, with 346 people dying from the disease on May 9.
