Worthing coronavirus cases continue to fall as lockdown eases

On Monday (April 12), the nation took its latest step away from strict social restrictions with the reopening of non-essential shops, pubs and hairdressers.

While the impact of more social mixing will take time to reveal itself in figures, Worthing’s Covid stats give cause for optimism.

In the week ending April 10, Worthing recorded 17 new cases of Covid-19.

That figure is four fewer than the week before.

Our town’s rate of infection is 15 cases per 100,000 people – compared to the national average of 19.

A total of 5,297 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in Worthing since the pandemic began at the beginning of last year.

Sadly, 225 people have now died within 28 days of a positive test.

Up to April 8, 58,296 doses of the vaccine have been administered in Worthing.
