The survey runs to Sunday September 15. Everyone who completes the survey can be entered into a prize draw to win one of ten £10 high street vouchers.

It can be found on the West Sussex County Council website at www.westsussex.gov.uk ‘live consultations’ in the ‘have your say’ section.

The survey looks at issues such as healthy living, weight loss services and perceptions of what healthy weight actually is.

Cabinet Member for Community Wellbeing Christine Field said: “Healthy weight can mean different things to different people. There are so many factors as well, such as physical activity, pressures from society, and images from the media to name but a few.

“This survey asks residents to give their views on these different areas and ultimately what support they think would be helpful to encourage all ages to be at a healthy weight for them as an individual.”

The results of the survey will be used to help inform Public Health in commissioning a countywide management service to offer support to adults, children and young people and their families.

Christine added: “The survey is open to all ages, but we are particularly keen to hear from young people for their views on healthy weight and what would motivate them to use the proposed new service.”

At present, separate weight management services are available for adults and for young people. The proposed new service will provide for all ages and will encourage participants to change their behaviour and lifestyle for a more healthy one and help motivate them to lose weight.
