Rustington practice warns of disruption during building works

BUILDING work at a Rustington doctors’ surgery is likely to lead to some disruption for patients, the practice has warned.

Westcourt Medical Centre is about to embark on a second phase of the improvements to its premises in The Street, to provide extra consulting space on the front of the building.

The construction work will result in no parking spaces being available for patients, except for those with a disabled parking badge, and for any others who would otherwise be unable to visit the centre.

“We are, therefore, going to have to apologise to our patients in advance of the project for this period of development of the build,” a Westcourt spokeswoman said.

Access to the front door of the medical centre will also be seriously affected by the building works. “Having taken advice concerning health and safety, and appropriate access for disabled patients, it seems the only way we can reasonably accommodate this is by extending the entrance route down the access road to the side of the surgery.

“We will, of course, do everything we can to make sure that this is as safe and as easy as possible, but, again, we will have to ask for the understanding of our patients during this inevitable phase of disruption.”

The new development will also see some of the nursing services moved back downstairs to newly refurbished space, so that fewer people will need to go upstairs as they currently do.
