Staff and pupils at Horsham school in isolation after confirmed coronovirus cases

Pupils and staff at a Horsham school are isolating after a student and a member of staff tested positive for coronavirus.

Headteacher of Tanbridge House School Jules White said 90 students and five members of staff were isolating.

He said:“We can confirm that over the past few days, one student and one member of staff have tested positive for Covid-19.

“As you would expect, we have followed Public Health England and Department for Education advice to the letter. As a result, 90 students and five members of staff are now isolating at home.

“Unsurprisingly, given rising infection rates, schools locally are beginning to experience mounting pressures.

“I am especially worried about a consistent lack of clear advice coming from the DfE in relation to next summer’s exams.

“Pupils, families and schools need far greater detail about how SATs, GCSEs and A Levels will be effectively and fairly managed both locally and nationally. “Sadly, at today’s Education Select Committee the school’s minister, Nick Gibb MP, was unable to provide the reassurance and clarity of guidance that is so urgently required.”
