Pat Forrest, 89, and Margaret Collagan, 85, both from Wilmington, had their Covid vaccines at the same time on January 25 at the Sovereign Centre in Eastbourne.

The pair decided to stop off for a McDonalds on Lottbridge Drove on their way home because neither of them had ever had one before.

Neither knew what to order so just asked for ‘McDonalds and chips’.

Margaret said, “We had such fun, it was a fabulous day.”

Jacky Long, a friend of the duo, said, “They’d had an ordeal to try to find the Sovereign Centre, they must have had some trepidation about the vaccine, but they weren’t going home with their tails between their legs – they were literally going to make a meal of their outing.

By all accounts they both thoroughly enjoyed their food even though they had no idea what they’d be getting.”

Pat said, “Everyone was so kind at the Sovereign Centre, if I needed help they all rushed to my side. It was all very organised too, couldn’t have been better.”

Margaret added, “The kindness of people was overwhelming. It was a wonderful experience at the centre and very well organised.”

Pat and Margaret both said everything went well with the vaccine. Pat didn’t have any side-effects but Margaret had a sore arm and lost her appetite for a day.
