10 pictures of Hampden Park, Eastbourne, in the 1940s and 50s

We had a hunt through our archives and came up with these photographs of Hampden Park, taken on a summer’s day in the 1940s/50s, which were sent to us by Paul Lester back in 2013.

The pictures feature the entrance, the children’s play area, people walking through the woods and, of course, Decoy Pond.

It seems that not much has changed since then, apart from the prevalence of the seagulls in amongst the swans and other birds today!
