All Star show from the Len Baldwin All Stars

Preview: Len Baldwin’s All Stars, Azur, Marina, St Leonards, tonight (Friday February 4), 8pm.

LEN Baldwin’s All Stars are the visitors to 1066 Jazz Club tonight.

Their pedigree is assured in that the band is made up of ex-Chris Barber, Ken Colyer, Monty Sunshine and Terry Lightfoot sidemen, mixed together to form an outfit that is aptly named, and bring the experience of the international scene, along with the renewed enthusiasm gained from playing for the love of the music, with the freedom from the constraints of too many slick arrangements.

A band to be much enjoyed, with the right level of tightness in ensembles, laced with interesting solo spots from the front line in particular.

Popular with dancers and listeners alike, easy on the ear and an ideal starting point for those not familiar with what is loosely described as the European New Orleans Jazz Style.

Full line-up: Alan Gresty (trumpet); John Crocker (reeds); Len Baldwin (trombone); Andy Maynard (banjo); Andy Lawrence (double bass) and Colin Miller (drums).

The session starts at 8pm at Azur with entry on the door at £7 for members and £9 for guests.
