Laura and Jason Parsons live in Pensford Drive and switched on their spectacular festive display on November 18. They have raised £380.50 so far and are hoping others will be inspired to donate.

Laura and Jason also hope the lights will bring some Christmas joys to their neighbours and other members of the community in what has been a difficult year.

Laura said: “We have a lit up arch and have made a selfie stand for people to come along and have their photo taken with the lights behind them.

“My husband and I love Christmas and really want to bring a bit of cheer this year.

“We’ve had lots of support from family, friends and neighbours.

“We are currently running a raffle too which will be drawn on December 12 and have lots of lovely prizes donated by local businesses, family and friends.

“All proceeds are going to the charity.”

The lights will now be on every night up until Christmas from 5pm to 9pm.

Many people are putting up their Christmas decorations early this year and with the majority of festive events cancelled due to the pandemic, it is thought it will help to lift spirits.
