Classical music feast with Mad March Airs

Music lovers are in for a classical treat from pianist/organist Robert Aldwinckle and soprano Carmen Lasok who will perform Mad March Airs at St Mark’s Church in Little Common on Saturday, March 2 at 7pm.

Their programme will comprise some old favourites including Air on a G String, Vilia from The Merry Widow, Airs from Handel’s Messiah, Handel’s Sarabande and Rusalka’s Song to the Moon. Robert, from Hastings, has performed worldwide in prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall and Buckingham Palace, and worked with violinists Yehudi Menhuin and Nigel Kennedy, and singers Jessye Norman and James Bowman. He is a vocal coach, both private and at Trinity College of Music, and also worked with Gareth Malone, who led the Military Wives Choir. Robert has made solo harpsichord CDs, including Haydn Keyboard Sonatas and a Bach recital. He is organist and choirmaster at St Mark’s Church and accompanist to Bexhill Choral Society.

Carmen has played many lead operatic roles and performs as soloist for Choral Societies, including the Malcolm Sargent Festival Choir, and with Baroque Encounter. She has performed in Westminster Cathedral and the Royal Albert Hall and sang for Pope John Paul II’s memorial mass at the Brompton Oratory.
