Kate and Tony Waterer took their grandchildren, George and Connie Bright-Pescott, to the site near Tutts Barn Late on February 28 where they collected three bags full of rubbish and two buckets full of plastic bottles and drink cans.

Mrs Waterer said, “We are very conscious of litter in the area and I thought it would be a nice thing to do with the children to get them out.

“They really enjoyed it very much so I am sure we will be doing it again.”

George and Connie were encouraged by their grandparents to take up their litter pickers to help clear the tracks on the allotment and in the stream.

George said, “I am very worried about the wildlife getting trapped in the rubbish.”

Connie said, “I love nature and enjoyed helping to clean up the environment.”
