Three cheers for the Hopfest

Now in its second year, the three day festival looks set to become a major annual event for Partridge Green.

Run by Dark Star Brewery, Hopfest 2013 took place at the Star Road brewery and at their tap, The Partridge.

Organisers estimate that more than 2,000 visitors turned up to experience a range of Dark Star ales, and to see Morris dancing sides from across the south east.

There were also vintage vehicles, a hop exhibition, and live music from Gypsy Jazz, Rough Chowder, Manadu, Hickory Signals, Major Major, Dirty Spoons, Callum Taylor, Rachel Bedford, Michael Vickers, Evie Woods, and the Sam Evans Band.

The Mobile Pizzeria and the Humble Pie Co provided food at the brewery on Saturday and Sunday.

James Cuthbertson, director of Dark Star said: “It’s only our second year running Hopfest, but we were blown away with its success.

“People really entered into the spirit of things.

“It’s a reminder, if one were needed, that we’re lucky to be running a business in such a great area of the county and have such a loyal fan base, without whom, these fun events just wouldn’t be possible.”

Following the success of this year’s event, Hopfest 2014 is being planned to run from Sept 26 to 28.
