VIDEO: Barns Green farm unveils healthy bakery

With the help of former Great British Bake Off finalist Cat Dresser, a farming family made up of Durwin Banks and sisters Gay and Wendy unveiled the bakery.

The Linseed Farm, formerly known as High Barn Oils, has received a £30,000 EU grant to fund the new kitchen.

It has helped the siblings with the expansion of their business from a linseed farm to an on-site producer of healthy food products.

Durwin said: “It’s something we must change in the future, we have got to eat to keep ourselves well, instead of trying to think we can cure ourselves.

“Although we are just in a small farm in Barns Green, I’m hoping to have a much more nationwide presence and help people realise the importance of food.”

The family’s all-new Lin Food range will be produced in the bakery.

Wendy said: “It’s a case of evolution really. It’s a case of the growing of the business and a coming to a realisation of the goodness of the product.”

Cat opened her debut bakery in Handcross earlier this month and cut the ribbon to officially open the kitchen.

She said: “Working in a bakery has shown me how interested people are in what they are eating.

“I think anybody who makes a difference locally is doing an amazing job, so I hope it grows for them.”
