FRIDAY KNIGHTS - Sir Geoffrey de Neville (? - 1285)

Keen local historian Jon Gunson has compiled this series entitled Friday Knight - knights who fought at the Battle of Lewes - giving each a brief biography.

Sir Geoffrey was of Prince Edward’s household; he was captured at Lewes, but exchanged for Robert de Newington, one of the Baronial leaders who had been taken at the fall of Northampton. When Edward himself escaped from captivity, Sir Geoffrey joined him once more, and was present at the taking of Dover Castle, where Eleanor de Montfort had held grimly on to the last shreds of her family’s power and influence.
