Kevin Dawson, owner of Dawmouse Furniture Ltd, started at the age of 25 doing antique restorations. As shabby chic furniture grew in popularity he found his skills in painting and finishing in demand too.

Now his online store www.dawmousefurnitureltd.co.uk offers over 4,000 furniture items, including solid wood furniture for all rooms, home décor, ironmongery, gifts and accessories in a wide range of styles and designs.

And the new showroom at Carlisle Buildings, Carlisle Road (close to the local theatres and restaurants) means customers can see for themselves the range and quality of the products, and buy from there or discuss options for bespoke pieces. There are also gifts and accessories for your home too.

Quality materials and responsible sourcing

Custom-made pieces and bespoke designs are crafted at a workshop in East Sussex, using responsibly-sourced materials of the highest grade and the ironmongery is made in Yorkshire.

For every piece of made-to-measure furniture sold 50 trees are planted, through a partnership between Dawmouse and the Woodland Trust. It is the first step in an ongoing mission to completely offset their carbon footprint and that of their products.

The quaint name of Dawmouse comes from Kevin’s childhood nickname – it’s what he was called at school.
