Work has started on phase two of Bellway’s Riverbrook Place development in Crawley.

The homebuilder completed the purchase of a second parcel of land off Steers Lane on February 23 and, with detailed planning permission already in place, has now started construction of 60 new properties there.

This phase of Riverbrook Place will be made up of 36 properties for private sale and 24 affordable homes for shared ownership or low-cost rent.

The home designs will include one and two-bedroom apartments as well as three and four-bedroom houses, with the majority of properties benefitting from solar PV panels.

Construction work is progressing well on the first phase of Riverbrook Place, with 105 of the 185 homes planned within this part of the development now complete and occupied.

Daniel Williamson, sales director for Bellway South London, said: “Our Riverbrook Place scheme is a vital part of the provision of high-quality homes for this area.

“We are seeing great demand for these properties because of the excellent location, which is near the M23 and within easy reach of Gatwick Airport.

“With plenty of public open space and a kick-about area being provided as part of the wider development, this will be an enjoyable and desirable place to live – and with energy-efficiency measures in place, it is also built for sustainability and modern living.

“We have now started work on the second phase of the project, and hope the first homes within this new part of the site will be ready to move into early next year.”

Bellway is making contributions towards local infrastructure as part of both phases of Riverbrook Place, with £547,459 to be paid through the Community Infrastructure Levy, and a further £100,000 to be paid through the planning agreements towards outdoor sports space, allotments, bus stops and air quality measures.

There’s currently a choice of one-bedroom apartments and three and four-bedroom houses available to reserve in the first phase of Riverbrook Place, with prices starting from £251,000.
