From green-fingered home gardeners to commercial landscapers working on grand-scale projects, there’s a business set in a stunning Sussex location which can help gardeners realise their creative ambition.

Quercus – the Latin for Oak – has been in business for commercial customers for the past 11 years, and is a family-run firm headed by Dave Baldwin, his wife Kathryn and children Ross and Sophie.

But thanks to a growing demand from householders looking to brighten up their own gardens, he’s created Quercus Plant Centre. A delightful space that is filled with hundreds of plant choices, you can buy everything from a small grass in a two-litre pot to a mature 100-year-old olive tree. This is in addition to the core Quercus business, supplying landscapers and garden designers with top-quality nursery stock.

Dave, who has been working as a horticulturalist since leaving school aged 16, heads up a hugely experienced team. They stock hundreds of species of plants from specimens to shrubs, herbaceous, grasses and more.

“Whether people are looking for one or two plants to finish off their garden, starting completely from scratch or working on a large scale commercial project, we can help,” he said.

“We offer a real family feel, and are here to help. That means we are happy to help you choose what will be best for space you are creating and suggest what will work best for the surroundings.”

Better still, they offer free delivery within a five mile radius, so those precious plants which need careful handling to safely see them move home are given the perfect TLC from the experts.

For those working on a grander scale in business, it’s possible to set up a trade account, which offers commercial discounts.

Dave added: “We set up Quercus Plant Centre to meet the needs of local people who want to browse in lovely surroundings, choosing the perfect plants to complement their home. It’s a cross between a garden centre, though with none of the sundries, we only sell plants, and the Chelsea Flower Show – there’s plenty to see here and to browse, and lots of seasonal inspiration to be had.

“The full team are really knowledgeable, we like it when people pick our brains and we can answer any questions they have.”

“We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service, no matter how big or how small your order is.”

Quercus Plant Centre is situated at the foot of Highdown Hill on Littlehampton Road, Ferring, BN12 6PG, and is open seven days a week.
