Alzheimer's Research UK will be hosting a free valuation event on Thursday, September 9, in conjunction with Dawsons Auctioneers.

The event will be a chance to find out what your treasured items are worth – as well as finding out more about how a gift in your Will can support the charity’s essential work.

This free event takes place in the beautiful grounds of Danny House, at the foot of the South Downs just outside Hurstpierpoint, at 10.30am for an 11am start.

The valuations will be held in a marquee with tea, coffee and cake. You’re welcome to bring along an antique item of your choice and, in true Antiques Roadshow style, experts from Dawsons Auctioneers & Valuers will be on hand to value all items. Dawsons are an internationally renowned and market leading auction house. Their team of dedicated specialists cover every field of fine art, antiques, jewellery, silver, watches, Asian art, ceramics & glass, motor vehicles and collectors’ items.

Research for a cure

Guests will also hear from one of Alzheimer's Research UK’s scientists about some of the pioneering research taking place locally and how gifts in Wills are playing such a vital role in making this groundbreaking research possible.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity dedicated to diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure.

Backed by their passionate scientists and supporters, they are challenging the way people think about dementia, bringing together the people and organisations which can speed up progress, and investing in cutting-edge research.

Dementia is caused by physical diseases, most commonly Alzheimer’s disease – and shockingly, one in three people born today will develop dementia in their lifetime.

Alzheimer’s Research UK believe that medical research can and will deliver life-changing preventions, treatments and one day, a cure for dementia.

“One in two of us know someone affected by dementia but in the UK today, there are no treatments to stop or slow the diseases that cause dementia,” says Maxine Peel-Yates, Regional Legacy Fundraising Officer at Alzheimer’s Research UK. “Dementia research is making progress and with more support we can make life-changing breakthroughs possible. Through research, we will keep people connected to their families, their worlds and themselves for longer.”

If you and a guest wish to attend the free valuation event on Thursday, September 9, please RSVP to Maxine Peel-Yates in the Gifts in Wills Team at [email protected] or call 07825 478071.
