Say hello to Isaac Ingall, Battle’s renowed celebrity who died in 1798 at the grand old age of 120.
He is apparently in the uniform of his master, Sir G.Webster of Battle Abbey.
Talking of being laid to rest, there is an epitaph in a Mid-Sussex churchyard as follows:
‘Here lies Ann Page, a good wife was she;
She died quite young, a great loss to me,
I married another, her name was Martha;
She turned out a vixen and a tartar.’
Can’t win them all!
