Man completes sand drawing on Eastbourne beach

Simon Perlaki who is a keen artist, said he decided to create the fish scale design artwork after receiving positive feedback on a community social media group when someone took a picture of a design he did with his children.

Mr Perlaki said he was also inspired to think of some bigger designs when photographer Robert Trifan from RT Photography reached out as the pair decided to meet up when restrictions were lifted.

The artist, who created the piece with a rake, said, “I decided to do the scale design because of course it is related to the sea and the beach and it went quite well.”

In regards to future artwork Mr Perlaki, who moved to Eastbourne in 2014, said, “I am planning to go down this Sunday but I think we are going to go down every few weeks, so long as we can find the sand.”

The digital publisher consultant explained that due to the tide he had a four–five hour window to complete his design, although his most recent piece only took three hours.

Mr Perlaki said, “Unfortunately it was quite late in the day so the sun had gone down and it wasn’t as bright but halfway through the drawing you can see the sun came out and it creates the shadows as well.

“Hopefully we get down a bit earlier, maybe the earlier low tide in the day to get more of the sunshine and the sunrise. That would be quite nice.”
