Residents step up protests over plans for new homes

People opposed to 99 new homes being built on land near the Fox and Hounds pub in Haywards Heath are stepping up their protest.

The protesters have written to Mid Sussex District Council leader Garry Wall outlining their objections. They say they fear that the whole sourthern area of the town could be ‘engulfed forever under a tsunami of housing units’ if the plans go ahead.

Adrian Warwick who lives near the proposed development site at Gamblemead, Fox Hill, said this week that he expected planners to make a decision in the New Year.

Meanwhile, hundreds of residents have signed a protest petition. They say the land is prone to flooding, there is insufficient infrastructure in place to deal with the extra homes and not enough parking spaces.
