Rouser misses the boat

Mr G Holman of Ringmer begs to differ with Rouser’s description on March 15 of a windjammer of old.

He writes: ‘The vessel in the picture is certainly not of a fully rigged ship, as this description can only relate to a vessel square rigged on all masts, whereas the vessel portrayed only appears to have one squared rig on its foremast. ‘The main and mizzen masts do not have squared yards and, if carrying fore and aft sails, would likely be described as barquentine.’

Thanks Mr Holman, Rouser feels rather seasick.
