Rustington’s European bloom success starts at grassroots level

RUSTINGTON’S reputation for outstanding floral displays has propelled the village onto the international stage, with judging last week for the Europe-wide Entente Florale competition.

But the community has also been celebrating the grassroots efforts of villagers and businesses in the parish council’s gardens and allotments competitions.

Judging the gardens were Ann Smee, chairman of Arun District Council and her husband, Bill, Christina Goodwyn and Patrick Sims, of East Preston and Kingston Horticultural Society, and David Luscombe, of Ferring Nurseries. They were delighted with the increased number taking part.
