Dave Berry still firing on all cylinders

Dave Berry plays Shoreham’s Ropetackle on his latest UK tour (Friday, June 22, 8pm).

Ropetackle spokesman Ben Parker said: “Fifty years on and Dave Berry is still very much firing on all cylinders.

“Although he first made his name back in the 60s, alongside musical contemporaries Chuck Berry and Gene Vincent, he’s perhaps best known for his all-time classic The Crying Game. A consummate showman, with a rich and varied back-catalogue of material to draw from, this promises to be a very special night indeed.

“Although pop was the basis for his hit-making 60s career, Dave Berry has always been a fervent r’n’b enthusiast. Dave developed his own unique vocal style and was subsequently signed by Decca Records with Mickie Most and Mike Smith producing.

“Longevity speaks for itself and the quality of the distinctive Dave Berry voice tells its own story with power blues and more laid-back material with a contemporary feel. His popularity is down not only to talent but a deep connection with his fans. He’s a great ambassador for pop’s golden age and enjoys the genuine X Factor.”
