Joe up for top theatre award

Barnham-based theatre director Joe Harmston is up for a top award for his production The Father by August Strindberg, adapted by Laurie Slade.

Joe is among the contenders in the best director category in the Theatre Awards UK 2012. The full list of nominations is online at www.tmauk.org.

Theatre Awards UK is the only nationwide awards scheme to honour creative excellence and the outstanding achievement seen on and off stage throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The Theatre Awards UK 2012 will be presented at a lunchtime ceremony on Sunday, October 28 2012 at the Guildhall in the City of London.

Chichester Festival Theatre will be featured in a number of categories.

The Best New Play nominations include South Downs by David Hare, a Chichester Festival Theatre production; Best Performance In A Play includes Henry Goodman for The Resistible Rise Of Arturo Ui, also a CFT production.

Best Musical Production includes the CFT’s Sweeney Todd; and Best Performance In A Musical includes Michael Ball for Sweeney Todd and Imelda Staunton for Sweeney Todd.
