Public display of students’ art

The new exhibition Vantage will show to their best advantage students from Worthing College Arts Academy at Worthing Museum and Art Gallery.

The show will be in the Studio Gallery from March 1-10.

A school spokesman said: “This is the first public display of visual arts and media student work since the Academy of Arts opened at Durrington in September 2011.

“On display there will be a wide range of techniques and themes including paintings, textiles, prints, drawings, photography, and film.

“The exhibition is called Vantage because our students are reflecting upon their previous work and considering the overall artistic direction of their new projects. Many of our visual arts students are considering their career options and applying to HE colleges and universities. This exhibition represents the culmination of a project, at an in-term stage in the academic year, and our students have been working hard to explore and develop a diverse range of themes and ideas.”

Hamish MacGillivray exhibition curator at Worthing Museum said: “It’s great to show new work by students from Worthing College especially as it boosts their confidence and we can compare their art work to some of the more traditional paintings that are being shown in the Your Paintings display also at Worthing Museum.”
