Successful singers set for folk club show

The Willows Folk Club in Arundel are promising another great Showcase Special evening on Wednesday March 14, once again spotlighting two local acts each performing a 40-minute extended set.

Club spokesman Chris Davis said: “The first act to be featured is Steve Winchester, a hugely-successful local singer-songwriter whose songwriting talent is matched only by his engaging and powerful live performances.

Steve is a singer with a soulful, warm voice, backed up with a strong and fluid guitar style. No one will want to miss a performance from this great local artist.

“Following Steve will be legendary Sussex showman Rick Willings. Rick is an outstanding singer-guitarist who has been a great friend of the Willows’ since the very beginning, and is best-known on the south coast for his work with successful bands Big Yellow Taxi (and the band’s acoustic equivalent, Taxi Home) and also the legendary Pied Merlin. A great multi-instrumentalist and singer, this Showcase set offers a rare chance to see Rick performing solo.”

Entrance for this exciting evening on Wednesday, March 14 is £2. The Willows Folk Club first opened its doors to the public more than 35 years ago, and now meets every Wednesday at 8pm in the function room of Arundel Football Club, Mill Road, Arundel, situated to the rear of the large public car park opposite Arundel Castle.
