One of the world’s great vocal ensembles, Cantabile, will appear at The Capitol, Horsham, on Saturday, May 18 at 7.30pm.

Spokeswoman Jill Elsworthy said: “The four singers – Michael Steffan (baritone), Mark Fleming and Steven Brooks (tenors) and Richard Bryan (counter-tenor) – come to present an evening of humour and harmony a cappella style to mark the Horsham Music Circle’s 71st Anniversary.

“Cantabile – known increasingly as The London Quartet – were founded in Cambridge as a purely a cappella student group, since then they have been exploring ever-new territories and attracting a substantial following right across the musical spectrum.

“They have toured extensively – from the United States to South Africa to Southeast Asia and the Far East. Keen to communicate directly with their audiences they have presented their programme in many languages including Italian, Greek, Turkish, Estonian and Korean. “They have sung in the most prestigious venues for the most prestigious clientèle, including Buckingham Palace for Her Majesty the Queen. The London Quartet have also released many recordings. The group first performed for the Music Circle in 2000.

“For this special programme they will take their audience on a musical journey from early part-songs, through Bach and Mozart, folksong and classical parody to the Beatles and into the 21st century with Richard Rodney Bennett’s A Good-Night, commissioned by Paul McCartney.”
