Wind in the Willows at Guildford

First the previews in the Mill Studio at Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre from Thursday to Saturday, August 9 to 11.

When Mole pops up into the open air, a wonderful new world full of exhilarating adventures and new friends is revealed; boating with the gentle Ratty, feasting with the noble Badger and a series of madcap escapades with the reckless Mr Toad.

Adam Forde has adapted and directed the show, with music composed and directed by David Perkins.

Adam explains: “The Wind in the Willows is such a favourite because of the colourful characters and their wonderful friendship. We have been faithful to the story but added a bit of a twist with the Wild Wooders. The weasels, stoats and ferrets are a shadowy lot and in this version we see much more of what they get up to. It’s a very funny story, Toad is one of the great comedy characters, and we hope we will give all our audiences a good laugh.”

As well as The Wind in the Willows, the Yvonne Arnaud Youth Theatre will be performing a new drama, Sophie Shadow.

Now embarking on their fifth year at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Youth Theatre has achieved critical acclaim through past Fringe productions of David Almond’s Clay, Revolting Rhymes, Forever Young, Five Children and It, the sell-out Metamorphoses and last year’s hits Arabian nights and From my Sleep with Horror.
