The teenage members of Our Fallen Hero – who hail from Littlehampton, Angmering and Barnham – have been invited by promoters to play their first gig at one of the UK’s most prestigious music venues the O2 Academy in London.

Lead singer of the band, Perry Burdfield, 17, received an email on Friday (March 8), inviting his group to play at the Islington-based venue.

Perry, a former student at St Philip Howard Catholic High School, in Barnham, who now studies at Chichester College, said: “When I opened the e-mail I was like, ‘Oh, my god!’ I couldn’t believe it.

“It’s such a huge thing for us. I know a lot of big bands have performed at the O2 Academy so we’re so excited.”

The quintet, made up of Perry, Sam Brooks, George Ashcroft, Ollie Gallagher and Dan Carter, already have around 20 shows across the country in their diaries, including performances at a number of festivals. They’re also recording their first single, The Deadlock, from their forthcoming album in the next few weeks.

Perry hoped the song could be used on the likes of music radio station Kerrang! or as one of the BBC introducing acts.
