The Newhaven and District Lifeboat Society has raised an impressive £1,000 during October alone.

Money will go towards runnin Newhaven Lifeboat.

The three fundraising events in October were an indoor table top sale at the Hillcrest Centre, in Newhaven, a concert performed by the Brighton Welsh Male Voice Choir at St Michael’s Church, Newhaven and an Autumn Sale and Coffee Morning at St Leonard’s Church in Seaford.

The secretary for Newhaven and District Lifeboat Society, Graham Hillman said: “The good summer of sunshine proved to be the busiest for lifeboat call outs and this resulted in the volunteer crew being in action throughout the season.

“During autumn there seems no slowing down in the number of calls for assistance.

“The need to raise funds is ever more important, especially with the winter months now approaching.

“With this in mind, we hope that the local people of the district will continue to support their local lifeboat.””

The lifeboat society’s next event is the Christmas Fair on Saturday November 30 at the Hillcrest Centre, in Hillcrest Road, Newhaven, from 10am-1pm.

Father Christmas also expected to visit.
