17-year-old charged with robbery

Simon Wisheart, of Priory Avenue, was remanded in custody on Tuesday (September 2).

Police are particularly keen to hear from two people who went to the assistance of an 70 year old woman.

Shortly after 5pm on Sunday August 31, she was leaving Alexandra Park, from an isolated area by Buckshole Reservoir, when she was robbed of her turquoise bag and its contents, whilst walking up the steps that lead onto King Edward Avenue. She was knocked to the ground.

She received minor injuries and has been left shocked and frightened.

DC Simon Atkins would like to speak with two people in the area at the time. A lady with her dog, who enquired on the victims wellbeing and a man who was approached by the lady and asked for assistance.
