20th Flower Festival at Christchurch

Christchurch is looking forward to the 20th annual Festival of Flowers which will be held over Bank Holiday weekend.

The displays will reflect the theme Cavalcade and are expected as ever to provide a stunning display of colour and skill.

The Festival opens at the church in Springfield Road on Saturday May 24 from 10-4.30pm and at the same times on Monday May 26. On these days stalls, competitions, light lunches, and cream teas will be ready for visitors to enjoy.

On Sunday May 25, the Festival will open from 2-4.30pm when cream teas will be available.

Treasurer Barry Turnwell said: "Also on the Sunday, at 10.30am and 6pm, there will be special Festival services of celebration led by our own Minister, the Rev Roger Leslie. Roger is due to retire in the summer and so this will be a particularly special time for us all.

"As in previous years, the Festival is being arranged by the members of the church Ladies Supper Club and once again it will be a wonderful selection of flowers and displays. Funds raised at the Festival will be donated to church and charitable projects.

"We are delighted that this year for the first time we will be able to make use of the adjacent 'Centenary House' that is the church and community centre linked to Christchurch, so there will be even more to see.

"All are most welcome - do please come along."
