Jamie’s great-grandmother, Babs, 95, was diagnosed
with Alzheimer’s disease six years ago.

Jamie, who is studying A-levels at The Weald sixth form in Billingshurst, said: “My great-grandmother has had Alzheimer’s disease since I was little and it’s a very tough disease.

“Luckily she is still able to live in her own home, but she requires constant care.

“Sadly she doesn’t recognise me any more
when I visit her, which
is hard as I was very close
to her.

“Fortunately she continues to be the same loving and gentle woman she was before this cruel disease took hold, but it’s awful to
watch someone you love go through this.

“I decided to support Alzheimer’s Research UK because I want to make a difference so that one day there will be the treatments in place that give people the chance to recover from Alzheimer’s and other dementias.”
