There is always plenty of thanks and admiration for the people who take part in the Lewes bonfire event – but what about the people who clear up the mess that 25,000 revellers have left behind afterwards?
Darren Liddy and his hard-working colleagues at Lewes District Council’s Robinson Road depot, were working through the night from 2am-8pm, clearing up the streets after thousands of Lewes residents and visitors have gone home to bed.
Without their hard work, the world-famous event could not go ahead every year.
