A day of searching - but still no sign of missing 96-year-old

A SPECIALIST search team has been on the hunt for 96-year-old Nellie Herriott, but there is still no sign of her.

Nellie, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, has been missing for more than a week and police are increasingly concerned for her safety.

A special search was carried out in Brighton, where she lives, on Tuesday, May 1, but police believe she may have travelled further afield - even as far as Worthing or Chichester.

“After yesterday’s (1 May) extensive search of the Whitehawk area it now looks like Nellie is somewhere else in the city or surrounding areas,” said Detective Sergeant Duncan Elliott from Brighton and Hove CID.

“There have been over 40 sightings of Nellie and we will continue to look into all of these in the hope that one of them will lead us to her.

“Again, I would like to sincerely thank the public and local media who have gone to great lengths to help us with our search for Nellie, their support has been tremendous and we are very grateful.

“I would also like to thank the specialist search teams who worked all day yesterday and into the evening scouring the Whitehawk area in a bid to find Nellie.”
