A happy New Year for care agency following donation from Dinnages

Martlets Care, the social enterprise side of the Martlets Group that provides care in the home and supported living, has been presented with a brand new car by Haywards Heath dealership group Dinnages to help deliver a happy new year to elderly and disabled people in Sussex.

The Hove-based care provider, which has donated all of its profits to the Martlets Hospice since it was formed in 2007, was furnished with the Ford KA by Rod Hollebone, Operations Director for Dinnages Garages Ltd. The Martlets carers, who operate primarily in the Brighton & Hove area, will use the vehicle.

Emma Lewery, Martlets Carer and Care Co-ordinator, received the keys from Rod and was first behind the wheel: “We are so very grateful to Dinnages for donating this wonderful car. It will mean that more of our carers will be able to take our more vulnerable clients out of their homes, which the clients really enjoy,” said Joseph Bower, Care Manager, Martlets Care. “The car will also make it easier for the carers to reach more clients in a day, which ultimately will benefit the hospice.”

For the financial year ending in April 2015, Martlets Care made profits of £127,000. This amount equates to 305 days of in-patient care or 77 weeks of care at home for those with terminal illnesses.

Dinnages recently marked its 80th anniversary. Established in Wivelsfield Road, Haywards Heath in 1935 by Jim Dinnage, the firm has been a Ford Main Dealer since 1956 and also has showrooms in Burgess Hill, Worthing and Brighton. Dinnages is still a family owned business and currently employs over 200 staff in Sussex. The firm is also a Volvo Main Dealer and Renault aftersales franchise. Dinnages is a keen supporter of local charity and sporting events across Sussex and was keen to help after learning about Martlets Care’s work in the local community.

“Martlets Care does fantastic work, delivering help to those who need it, in an environment where everyone feels most comfortable: at home,” said Rod Hollebone. Managing Director Daniel Broyd added: “It is our absolute pleasure to be able to support such a good cause, by contributing in a way that can help enable Martlets Care to make a direct impact on people’s lives.”
