Collyer’s Principal, Sally Bromley, was thrilled: “This is an outstanding performance! Well done to all of our winners, they are a credit to Collyer’s and we are incredibly proud of them.”

Collyer’s Katja Welton, who teaches German, was delighted for all of the Collyer’s students: “The competition is open to pupils from right across the Horsham district, so this really is a tremendous achievement. Well done everyone!”

The candidates each had to write an essay in the language, which was judged on content, use of language and accuracy. The judges commented that they were impressed by the standard of the entries and thanked and congratulated all students who took part.

Collyer’s Vice Principal, Steve Nicholls said: “We have a superb languages department at Collyer’s, so massive thanks to Katja and the languages team for coordinating our entry and for being great teachers! I know they are quite rightly ecstatic about the students’ performance.
