A-LEVEL RESULTS: Bishop Luffa School

56 per cent of all exams entered gained A*-B grades, with 82 per cent gaining A*-C grades. The group of 135 Year 13 students achieved a 99 per cent pass rate for all the exams entered. Eight per cent of all the exams gained A*, and 29 per cent gained A*-A grades.

Headteacher Nick Taunt said: “The results are impressive, and behind the figures lie many stories of determination, great personal commitment, and, in some cases, battling against the odds.

“A-levels are tough exams, but many of our most successful students also threw themselves into the life of the school as a whole, mentoring younger pupils, raising money for charity and supporting their Houses. I am delighted for them, and full of praise for their dedicated teachers.”

Five Luffa students, with a total of 19 A* and A grades between them, have secured places at Oxford and Cambridge. Rosie Course is set to read English at Lincoln College, Oxford, while Phoebe Scott-Green will study Theology at Regents Park, Oxford.

At Cambridge, Emily Evans will study Economics at Trinity Hall, Callum Munday goes to Homerton College to read Law, and Andrew Peecock will read Natural Sciences at Magdalene College.

In addition, 15 students gained at least three A* or A grades each: Jack Andrews, Peter Beadle, Chris Burgess, Zack Coleman, Jack Creber, Richard Foulkes, Francesca Jones, Sam Lavers, Kyle Lyons, Kate Moore, Ben Palmer, Emma Richards, Kate Sabin, Gina Sharma and Megan Wojcik.

A further 18 students gained two A* or A grades each: Matthew Broughton, Benjamin Clink, Hannah Cox, Harry Derbyshire, Sarah Fraser, Jessica Gale, Jack Henshall, Georgina Jones, Samuel Martin, Toby Megeney, Sam Peake, Harrison Pickering, Rhiannon Prosser, Charlotte Quick, Rupert Spurrier, Andrew Tripp, Jac Van Driel, and Eleanor Wright.

About 25 students are embarking on gap years which include doing voluntary work in many parts of the world, working at ski resorts, gaining further work experience and fund raising for university life next year.

22 Year 11 pupils also achieved exceptional results in AS Theology. All passed, with 13 gaining grade A and a further six gaining grade B.
