A-LEVEL RESULTS: Student “extremely happy” after outstanding results

An Eastbourne student at Sussex Downs College says she “couldn’t have asked for more” after achieving two A* and three A grades in her A-Level results this morning (Thursday, August 12).

Heidi Hollister obtained an A in Physics last year, and this year outdone herself to achieve A*s in Biology and Mathematics and As in Further Mathematics and Chemistry.

Heidi has successfully gained a place at Imperial College London, where she is planning to study Material Science.

She said: “I couldn’t have asked for more. I am extremely happy with my results.”

Heidi was one of a number of students celebrating success at Sussex Downs College, which achieved an overall pass rate of 97 per cent in both A-Level and advanced BTEC pathways.

In addition, students surpassed expectations by achieving 100 per cent pass rates in nearly three quarters of the courses available.

Melanie Hunt, principal and chief executive, said: “These results give our students a strong platform from which to progress to University and the workplace. Every year we know that the number of students receiving their first choice at university has been increasing; we are proud of them and wish them every success for the future.”
