A-Levels: BACA celebrates 100 per cent pass rate

It also saw 70 per cent of passes in BTECs being at top Distinction* or Distinction grades.

Principal Bob Speight said: “The students have achieved a really impressive set of outcomes. We have developed a really exciting and distinctive post-16 provision at BACA. These young people have made the most of all the opportunities on offer done themselves and BACA College proud.”

Courses with particular successes included sport and sport science, for which 75 per cent of entries were graded Distinction*, and creative media, for which 67 per cent of students secured at least a double Distinction. No student was awarded less than a Merit for these courses.

All students achieved the grades they needed to pursue next steps, with half heading to university, either in September or after a gap year.

Student Will Sheffield was given praise after achieving Distinction* in all of his subjects. Will has combined his academic studies with the Aldridge Cricket Academy and being selected for the Sussex First Team squad this season. He is taking a year out to play cricket overseas, and has offers from both Durham and Brighton universities.

Student Nadja Pereira said: “I’m really pleased with my results and am looking forward to starting my history degree at the University of Brighton.”

Keeran Head was pleased with his Creative Media results and is going on to study design for digital media, also at Brighton.

Other university destinations for BACA students include Bath Spa, Roehampton and Chichester.

And its sister school the Portslade Aldridge Community Academy (PACA) recorded a 100 per cent pass rate across all BTEC subjects taken and in ten of the 12 A-Level subjects taught.

Collecting his results today PACA student Jacob Woodford said: “I’m really happy with my results, I’ve been here for seven years now and I think I’ve been really successful.

"In September I’ll be starting a degree in maths at Sussex University. I’d like to thank all the teachers at PACA for the amazing support that they have given me over the years.”
