A pie chart which could be eaten showed up all the wasted food

AN EDIBLE pie chart showed visitors to an event held by South Bersted Cubs could make their impact on the world.

The pie – baked by Turners Pies – displayed the percentage of food wasted in the UK.

It stood alongside a map which showed the origins of food and a display by the Cubs about how the decisions made by individuals affect their green footprints.

The Cubs also quizzed visitors to the Green Footprint Celebration about how Bognor Regis could be improved. There was the chance as well to make a bird feeder fat ball, a bug hotel and plant a seed in a recycled pot.

South Bersted Cubs’ Akela, Wendy Morris, worked with Friends of West Park’s secretary Jan Malpas to organise the celebration to earn the Cubs the highest stage in the Green Footprint Awards.

“Lots of creative fun was on display and the Cubs were clearly enjoying their day,” said Mrs Malpas. “The event was a resounding success and a fitting birthday tribute to both Lord Robert Baden Powell and Lady Olave Baden Powell, founders of the Scout and Guide movement.”

The occasion was held last Saturday (February 23) at St Wilfrid’s Church Hall on Ellasdale Road after recent rain had made the original location of West Park too wet.
