POLICE have issued an appeal this week for witnesses after a spate of crimes in Hailsham last month, March.
A woman was mugged by a couple when she withdrew money from an ATM cashpoint machine outside the HSBC bank in Market Street on March 5.
She noticed a man and woman behind her, in their late 20s or early 30s.
When the victim typed in a ‘withdraw’ command to get cash, the couple shouted, ‘uh oh’. She turned around to see what the matter was, and when she turned back her money, £50 in notes, had been snatched.
In an unrelated incident, a group of youths aged 15 to 18 were seen kicking the back door of Sanchos Kebab Shop in the High Street on March 8. They ran off before anyone could identify them.
Some £10,000 worth of damage was caused by thieves when armoured cable was stolen from a building site on Vicarage Road, sometime between March 24 and March 26. The cable itself was worth £200.
A resident phoned Hailsham police to say that she heard a loud bang on her window at her property in Market Street.
When she opened her door to see what the bang was, a stone was thrown through the front door. The woman did not see anyone outside.
If you have any information about these incidents contact police by phoning 101.
