A '˜rumble in the jumble' is a super fantastic £1k success

West Hill Community Centre's Super Fantastic Jumble Sale has been deemed a Super Fantastic Success by organisers with around a hundred bargain hunters raising over £1,000 that will go towards a new roof.

The jumble sale on Saturday May 28, was held to raise funds needed to replace the centre’s flat roof which is in urgent need of repair. Trustee and co-organiser of the sale, Sarah Corrie says she was thrilled at how successful it had been. “We hoped to raise around £500 and raising over twice that amount is fantastic,” she said. “Over one hundred people come through the door; it was a super fantastic success raising an amazing £1057.82!”

Sarah said the sale was a great opportunity to recycle unwanted items and give people the opportunity to enjoy coming together to spend money in an affordable way that also raised funds for a worthy cause. “We wanted to do a jumble sale the old fashioned way, with most items 50p or less.”

Generous donations encouraged bargain hunters to spend hours perusing and purchasing clothes, bric a brac, toys, books, CD’s and furniture. One visitor said: “I’ve never spent so much time or money at a jumble sale - it’s been brilliant! I loved having a rumble in the jumble!”

Scrumptious homemade cakes, coffees, and teas were also available.

Thanking those who generously donated to the sale and to all the volunteers who worked to make the event a success Sarah is now appealing to local builders and builders merchants to help them out. “We would love to hear from any local builders or builders merchants who would be able to offer their time and/or materials at a discounted rate to help repair the centre’s roof.”
