The completion of the work last Friday means that a planned closure of the eastbound carriageway will not go ahead this week.

Highways England asset manager, Peter Phillips said: “It is great news for local residents and businesses in the Chichester and Havant area and for everyone who uses this busy road that the resurfacing work has finished earlier than scheduled, and we won’t need the closures this week.”

The work formed part of Highways England delivery of £200m of maintenance work in the south east this year.

A full resurfacing scheme is being planned, and is currently expected to be programmed for delivery in 2017/18.
