Abseilers get birds' eye view of Crawley

One of the first of 46 people to lower herself from the 90ft building which overlooks the Hazelwick flyover was Sarah Sladdon from Crawley business asb law, which sponsored the event.

She said: “I’m thrilled I can tick it off my bucket list but I’ll never do it again. It was really scary.

“Once in position there was a moment of trepidation. I was scared at the top. You have a moment to realise what you are doing and where you are going to go.

“The difficult bit was actually stepping out over the edge; it’s a long way down.”

Rachel Bartlett, fundraiser for the Amber Foundation said the abseilers’ efforts would allow the charity to continue its vital work with young homeless people.

Rachel, who joined in the challenge, said: “It was a remarkable day with various different clients from asb law coming together to help our cause. To watch so many people pushing themselves way beyond their own comfort zones really was quite a sight.

“It was a thrilling achievement to experience something quite out of the ordinary whilst helping young 
homeless people in the process.

“Our sincere thanks to asb law for spearheading this successful event and to all those who took part, so far raising an incredible £4,500.

“Thanks must also go to Worth Scaffolding who very kindly donated their services in providing a safe and secure launch platform.

“It is great to see such support and community spirit amongst such a diverse range of service people; we are very fortunate to have been a part of it.”
