A group of local gamekeepers and shooting people were brought together for the event by gamekeeper Luke Ancliff after another gamekeeper, Andrew Stringer, suffered a severe accident on the South Downs and needed the help of the Sussex Air Ambulance.

David Silverson was appointed quiz master and aimed to consistently set questions for the participants that challenged but remained fun for all.

Peter Pitman was the auctioneer at the event and was responsible for ‘liberating’ thousands of pounds from supporters’ wallets.

Luke said: “The shooting community spends much of its time in remote areas and is grateful to have the air ambulance should an accident occur.

“It is marvellous that local landowners and businesses have got behind this wonderful cause that is almost entirely funded through donations.”

The annual quiz and auction was held last Friday at the Arundel Cricket Club, in Chichester Road.
