Scarlett said: “This is the most visual period of human history when perceptions of contemporary life are governed by the addictive flash and flare of the screens of more than eighteen billion mobile devices, each cutting venomous frames through the world to show what we are supposed to see. All these lurid frames are curated by the chain of self-appointed screen journalists and editors who tell us selective stories of chosen narratives which mostly target us to disturb, distress and disorganise.

“My task as a curator with this exhibition was to unveil the depths of our inner selves and provoke inquiries such as the state of our mental framework—whether it is displayed on the wall or resting on the floor. It challenges us to consider how discerning we are regarding the information presented to us by the world. Are we capable of crafting our own narratives, selecting unconventional stories—those conceived and later translated by an artist through genuine thoughts, energy and various media? Are we really expressing our individual preferences, even when they diverge from the narratives that have been imposed upon us?

“Art serves as a medium through which we aim to encourage individuals to embrace life and discover happiness even amidst challenging circumstances. We hope that these paintings elicit a reaction akin to that of music—inviting viewers to pause, contemplate and embark on a personal emotional exploration inspired by these creations.”
