Adult social care cuts: Have your say

If given the go ahead, the swathe of cuts will affect vulnerable adults and children living across 1066 Country, including the homeless, the elderly, the disabled and the mentally ill.

The consultation document conceeds: “We know the proposed savings would have a significant impact on people who use services.

“There will also be some people who use several of the services, so are at risk of having a lot of support removed at one time.

“It is also likely that by removing these preventative support services, more people will become eligible for statutory services (services we are required by law to provide to people who have elibible needs).”

The consultation is open now and will close on Friday, December 18.

Consultation drop-in events are scheduled to take place across East Sussex over the next couple of weeks.

On Monday November 2, a drop-in session will take place at Hastings Town Hall, Queens Square, Hastings, between noon-2pm.

The Rother drop-in will follow on November 3 at Battle Memorial Hall, 81 High Street, Battle, between 12.30-2.30pm.

There are several ways you can take part in the consultation:

* Complete the online survey at www.eastsussex.gov.uk/ascbudget

* Print and post the survey to ASC Budget Consultation 2015, County Hall, St Anne’s Crescent, Lewes, BN7 1UE

* Visit one of the consultation drop-in events

* Email the council with your comments – [email protected]

If the council decides to go ahead with the proposals, the changes to services would happen from April, 2016, onwards.
