Adur Festival: Countdown to this year has begun

The festival, which runs from May 30 to June 14, is a celebration of arts and community and an opportunity to connect creatively across our district. This year is looking to be bigger and better than ever, with nearly 60 events registered.

The theme this year is Food of Love, inspiring events like pop-up vintage tea rooms and community vegetable patches, and on which the street parties on June 13 – in Shoreham, Lancing, and Southwick – will be based.

One of the many perks of this job is having the opportunity to programme world-class street performance alongside local talent for the street parties.

And, this year, there will also be interactive performances and activities from recipients of the Food of Love Fund, a pair of grants that were made available to local community artistes.

The festival programme encompasses live music, family events, workshops, fêtes, comedy, theatre, guided walks, and more; and we’ll be celebrating the launch at Ropetackle on Thursday, April 16.

We’ll be joined by Adur Art Trail, who will be launching their own programme, too. Adur Art Trail is an ‘open house’ style event organised by local artists, which gives the opportunity to buy directly from artists in an informal setting.

At the launch, festival artists and organisers will be giving a taste of what to expect from the festival, with canapés served by Lesley’s Kitchen. It begins at 7.30pm, entry is free.
